About me 關於我

Dr. Cai is a tenured Full Professor of Computational Systems Biology at TAMU with a joint appointment between Veterinary Integrative Biosciences and Electrical & Computer Engineering.
Dr. Cai is the Director of Data Science Core of the CPRIT Regional Center of Excellence in Cancer Research, and Deputy Director of Data Science Core of the Center for Environmental Health at TAMU.
Dr. Cai works on interdisciplinary studies involving data science, machine learning, and quantum computing, applying to single-cell biology.
Dr. Cai is the author of SCGEATOOL (https://scgeatool.github.io/), an easy-to-use desktop application for single-cell transcriptome analysis without programming.
Dr. Cai develops QuantumGRN (https://github.com/cailab-tamu/QuantumGRN)—a quantum circuit model for inferring gene regulatory networks with application to single-cell transcriptomic data.
Dr. Cai is the faculty advisor for QuantA&M— the first and only TAMU student organization dedicated to quantum computing.

Expertise 專長

I am a computational systems biologist with a research interest in the interface of biomedicine, computational statistics, and data science. My group works on elucidating the genetic basis of phenotypic variability in humans and animals, emphasizing using single-cell technology, machine learning, network science, and quantum computing to study diverse behaviors of cells and gene expression regulation implicated in disease development. I have been working on using quantum computing to advance our understanding of single-cell biology.
