Professor Po-Ju Chen, Ph.D. CHIA, CAHTA, a two-time US Fulbright Scholar (2015: Austria/2012: Denmark), is a Professor with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas A&M University.
Professor Chen’s primary research focuses on behaviors, services management and workforce development in agriculture, hospitality and tourism. More specifically, her research involves program assessment; strategic management; entrepreneurship; leadership; science communication in agriculture, food, and natural resources; human science research; workforce development; sustainability management; youth development including 4-H as well as artificial intelligence (AI) literacy research.
She has published articles in leading research journals and has received several research awards and recognitions for her academic contributions. Her teaching excellence earned her the John Wiley & Sons Award for Innovation in Teaching. She was the Walt Disney World Continuing Education instructor in Guest Services Management and Leadership and Strategic Management.
Professor Chen has been active in developing community and industry partnerships and expanding outreach on a national and international scale. Some of these efforts include serving as the 2016-2018 Florida Green Lodging Education liaison, 2015 president of the Professional Businesswomen Association and 2010 president of the Florida/Caribbean Chapter of Council of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Educators. From 2014-2016, Chen served as the primary data analyst for the Institute of Internal Auditors Body of Knowledge. She was honored as one of the Most Influential Educator in Hospitality in 2024. She is a judge for the Texas Houston Rodeo Cup - Horticulture Competition in both 2024 and 2025.
Chen is the Exeutive Editor of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education as well as the former Editor of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases. Dr. Chen is the Chair of the Services Management Special Interest Group by ICHRIE. She is elected as the Vice President of the International Society of Travel and Tourism Education since 2024.
